Offered by CD Outdoors. This hands-on two day camp will teach sport fishing while promoting an awareness of and appreciation for the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Some kayak instruction included. Wetland Fall Break Camp, Ages 8 - 10 |

This two day camp experience will plunge participants into the wet and wild world of wetland ecology! Campers will get their hands dirty in the wetland areas around Matapeake Beach while learning about the importance of wetland ecosystems! Each day will include games, hands-on projects, nature observations and investigations. Snacks will be provided but campers will need to bring a lunch and a water bottle. Weekday practices and Saturday games are held throughout the county. Once teams are formed, coaches will notify all players of practice times and dates. The leagues play games from January – March, 2011. Playing ages determined as of September 1, 2010. Note: Grasonville Area – home court for games is Matapeake Elementary. You’ve seen the television series – here’s your opportunity to compete in a survivor like challenge of your own! Wetland Survivor puts physical, mental and strategic limits to the test. Participants must rely on their wetland knowledge as they compete in field-day style challenges designed to introduce them to the functions and values of wetlands. Bring a lunch and a water bottle. The following youth field hockey leagues will start in August. No experience necessary. Girls Youth Leagues include Peewees entering grades 1–2, Juniors entering grades 3 – 5 and Seniors entering grades 6 – 8. Equipment needed: mouth guard, shin guards and hockey sticks. Peewee and Junior girls’ sticks may be provided if necessary. Peewee Division will be mainly skill development. If we get enough players we will set up a few games. Practices start in August at area fields and games begin in September. Registration deadline: July 9, 2010. Registrations received after this date will be charged a $15 late fee. Open Gym For Youth With Disabilities is a unique recreational program designed so that children with any type of disability can participate in sports, particularly if their disability makes it difficult for them to join other mainstream programs. Activities will be tailored to meet the interest and ability level of each participant. The kids can learn basic skills and participate on an individual basis with a small group in basketball, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, hockey, volleyball, bowling and kickball. At the end of the program, students will produce and perform in a production of Attack of the Killer Grasshoppers, a tale of mammoth, musical grasshoppers that are threatening the world!
